How do you create a brand that reflects the excitement of a technology-driven sports bar?

When you hear the term “sports bar”, an image probably comes to mind. Does that image include real-time sports simulator suites? PLA (pronounced play) just so happens to have sports sims as part of their experience and that was the challenge: how do we tell the world we’re a sports bar, but better?

The Work

Striking contrasting colors, raw brush strokes and neon lights make an electrifying brand

The “ah-ha” moment for me was realizing that PLA wasn’t a sports bar, it was a fun factory that happened to use sports and technology as the means for creating its product. So we built a brand that broke the rules. The letters PLA create a face, and that face can have any expression. Bold colors and brush strokes create a striking brand full of personality while conveying the fun that happens inside. 

The PLA brand pattern is a showcase of how versatile the logo really is. Unlike many brands that are handcuffed by rigid guidelines and spacing, the PLA brand is meant to be, well, played with. 

Football season is our season

At the end of the day, we’re a sports bar and football season is the time of year we all get together to root on our favorite teams. Every year we re-invent our design and create something eye-catching for the season-long race to the Big Game. 

Social media as lively as the bar itself

When you’re scrolling through your feed or tapping through stories, it’s almost impossible not to stop on PLA. Every promo, every event, every single thing we post on social is crafted to capture attention and stop the scroll. 

We’re sports lovers and competition enthusiasts. From football to horse racing, we’re always encouraging guests to come enjoy our unique take on the sports bar experience. 

The Results

The resultes can be summed up in one word: expansion.

It’s hard enough to make it in the restaurant and bar business period. It’s even harder to take a new concept and turn it into an investable and expandable brand. PLA has multiple new locations lined up and is poised to become a well-known name in the EATertainment space.
